Making a thumbtack pumpkin really is as simple as it gets. All you need is:
The hardest part of this craft is to pick a design. We decided to keep it cute and simple this year and stick with happy faces. Here are the steps:
- Draw the design on the pumpkin with a pencil.
- Insert the thumbtacks using the pencil marks as a guide. You can place the thumbtacks side by side or overlap them slightly to give a different look.
Told you it was easy! My 4 years old was able to do all the thumbtacking by himself. For my 2 years old, I helped place the tips of the thumbtacks in the pumpkin, and she helped push them in all the way. I tried just letting her do her thing with the thumbtacks, but I don’t think she really understands the concept yet of following the pencil lines. Hence, we got a random hole in her happy pumpkin. Hey, nobody’s perfect.
