The Best Gift Ideas for Practical, Busy Moms
Whether a full-time working mom or a stay-at-home mom, we are all busy moms. Especially if you have an infant or a toddler at home who literally cannot bear to be more than 2 feet away from you, you definitely have your hands full. Although we would all love to have some extra hands around the house to help with chores or childcare, it’s not always possible. However, I have found some items that definitely made my life easier. Some of them took away frustrations and made me less stressed, whereas others just make me want to scream, “Where were you all my life?!?!?”. This holiday season, whether you are a spouse, a kid, a relative, or a friend, consider some of these gift ideas for the well-deserved moms in your life:

1. Instant Pot
Can you fall in love with an appliance? I have with my pressure cooker! I used to only cook on the weekends when my husband could distract the kids. With the Instant Pot, I can make dinner every day if I want. It makes the perfect rice, steamed vegetables, meat stew, mac & cheese…and the list goes on and on! Most days I just prepare the ingredients while my daughter is sleeping, dump them all in the Instant Pot right before I go pick up my son, and we all come home to a nice, hot meal.
2. Air Fryer
Toddlers love fries and nuggets, but the ones you get at fast-food restaurants are not exactly the high-quality food you would want your kids to eat. While baking is a great alternative, sometimes it just doesn’t have that crunchy texture only frying can provide. Air fryers are perfect because I can “fry” food without worrying about all the grease. And unlike a toaster oven, you don’t have to worry about pre-heating the appliance before inserting the food, so now I use it to heat up frozen pre-cooked food as well!
For mornings when everything goes to hell and the kids are still in pajamas with nothing in their bellies by the time daddy needs to take my son to school, we turn to the blender for some healthy, to-go breakfast options. Investing in a powerful blender that has the capability of crushing ice and large chunks of frozen fruit is a must because otherwise you will just be wasting time manually pushing the ice chunks so that the blades can get to everything and blend evenly. We just switched from a regular blender to the Ninja® Mega Kitchen System® and we are amazed at how creamy the blender makes the smoothies without any effort from us. And I love how it comes with a food processing bowl so I don’t need a separate appliance to chop up produce in my small kitchen.
My husband absolutely HATES wrinkles in his clothes, but with two young kids and so much work, he has no time to iron his clothes. And me? I would consider myself lucky if I even had the time to throw a load of laundry in the washer and it would be a miracle if I could remember to move the wet clothes to the dryer. So, unfortunately, we have our share of wrinkly clothes in this house. Ironing takes way too long, especially with a toddler running around, but some of the clothes are just way too embarrassing to see the light of day. A portable clothes steamer allows me to quickly and effectively get the wrinkles out of clothes for the whole family so everyone can look their best every day!
Always losing your keys? Do your kids like to play hide-and-seek with your wallet? Instead of bursting a vein trying to locate my wallet or keys while I am already running late with the kids already in the car, I use my Tile-Mate to help me find them. I simply have to open the app on my phone and tell my phone to “call” Tile-Mate, and the Tile-Mate attached to my keys or in my wallet vibrates with a cheerful ringtone so I can track it down. It works the other way around too – if you can’t find your phone, you can just press the button on the Tile-Mate and your phone would start ringing. I can’t tell you how many times I used my Tile-Mate last year and I am sure my blood pressure is thanking me for having it!
We have two kids, a dog, and a cat in this house, so the carpet is constantly under attack. I have tried tons of vacuums, but the Dyson Cinetic Big Ball Animal was the game changer for me. No longer do I need to spend tons of time going over the same piece of carpet over and over again to make sure I get all the fur or crumbs. No longer do I sweat like I hit the gym hard just from vacuuming. Investing in a good vacuum really cuts down on the effort and time needed to vacuum the house, allowing you more time to sleep! Haha just kidding…to do more chores!
7. Hand Vacuum
You might be asking, if I have such a great vacuum at home like the one I recommended above, why do I need a hand vacuum? The answer is…the car. Kids love to eat in the car, and parents love to let them because otherwise, they are whining and asking “Are we there yet?” every minute of the trip. However, they usually leave crumbs everywhere or drop food on the floor, and guess what? The next time they go in the car, they step on the food they dropped and crumble them into gazillion pieces. A good hand vacuum like the Black+Decker BDH2000PL MAX Lithium Pivot Vacuum is great with getting into the nooks and crannies of the car as well as sucking up all the crumbs on the floor. It’s easy to store and recharge so you can just grab it and quickly do a quick sweep of the car before you head out so it’s not so embarrassing when you open the car door and the people walking by give you an “O-M-G” look
If you don’t have Amazon Prime Membership yet, please get it! It’s so hard to get out to the stores when you have to lug two kids around. And while I am not advocating you being a recluse and stay at home all day, some days you just need something last minute and running to the store with two screaming kids is not just worth it. Not only does Amazon Prime allows you to get free 2-day shipping for eligible items, it also lets you use Prime Now, a delivery service that allows someone to shop for you and deliver anything you buy, including your groceries, right to your doorstep within hours. On days when I need to choose between starving my kids and breaking my sanity (of course the latter always wins), I am very thankful for Prime Now for its fast delivery.
Technology keeps changing and hopefully, things are going to get easier and easier for new moms. I am so happy for all these things in my house that allow me to spend more time with my kids without feeling stressed out about cooking or doing chores all the time. The kids are also happier with freshly cooked food and clean carpet to play on. So, if you know a mom who does not have any or some of these items, consider getting them for her…she will be very grateful for it!
