Best Custom Cell Phone Cases: Coveroo Review
After you become a mom, you view life from a whole new perspective, including items around your house. Your car keys become a rattle, pots and pans become musical toys, and the bed becomes a trampoline. And since us moms cannot live without our cell phones and take pictures and videos of our little ones all the time, naturally the phones become the focus of their interests. What that means is that if they can get their hands on a phone, the phone becomes…
A puzzle to be examined:
A ball to be thrown:
A pacifier to be chewed on:
(The background is the aftermath of a 10 months old baby “helping” mommy unpackage the cases. I swear my house is not this messy. Ok fine, at least not most of the time.)
Moreover, since us moms tend to hang out in multiples, it’s difficult to quickly identify each person’s phone. How many times have you picked up someone else’s phone, thinking it was yours? Or see a phone lying around on the ground because a mom ran off after her toddler, and wondered who is the owner? For something that contains hundreds – or thousands, in my case – of precious, invaluable pictures and videos of our kids, we sure do not do the greatest job of protecting it.
I received two free cases from Coveroo.com in exchange for writing an honest review on the blog. As always all opinion are 100% my own. This post contains affiliate links, please click here for more information.
When I discovered Coveroo, I was beyond excited as they have so many options when it comes to customizing cell phone cases. The company has been awarded licenses from some of the world’s biggest brands, such as Disney and DC Comics, so you can put your favorite character(s) on your case. Sports fan? Coveroo offers college and professional sports team logos so you can show your team support everywhere you go. And for moms like me, there is a page of designs dedicated to Mother’s Day just to celebrate us. Not finding any of the artwork your cup of tea? You can even upload your own image(s) and design your own case!
Coveroo offers quality cases from brands such as OtterBox, Case-Mate, and LifeProof. My phone is constantly on the ground, either from me dropping it while trying to carry my baby, the diaper bag and groceries all at once, or from my baby grabbing it out of my pocket or bag and throwing it on the floor (and of course, followed by the biggest, most adorable smile so that mommy can’t get mad). So not only will you have the most stylish case amongst the other mom phones, you will also have one that protects your phone from drops, dust, and life as a mom.
Since we just received pictures from Alex’s 3rd birthday photoshoot, I decided to design my own OtterBox Symmetry case for my iPhone 7. OtterBox is known to build quality cases that could survive tough falls and protect against everyday life. Against all odds, my phone is still alive, and it’s time for me to protect it better. I was nervous about using my own artwork because I never customized a cell phone case before, so I had no idea what I was doing. Thankfully, Coveroo made the process nice and easy and I was checking out in less than 10 minutes! The hardest part was actually picking which photo to use for the cover! All you have to do is upload your photo from your computer and resize the photo to fit the phone case, and voila!
I will admit, I was quite skeptical when it comes to a customized phone case. Will the photo look blurry? Will it be cropped incorrectly? Will it look like someone printed the photo on a sticker and stuck it onto the back of the phone case? When I received the case in the mail, I was more than happy with the results!
Coveroo uses one of two unique techniques to customize a case – the LaserEngraved or HighColor design process. Therefore, your artwork is permanently emblazoned on the phone case. The skeptic in me would not rest until I put the case to some tests. So, I took the case and rubbed it against my fingers to see if anything comes off. Then I use my fingernail and tried scratching some of the artwork off. In both cases, I was unable to damage the case.
Coveroo then offered for me to review another case. I thought about getting a case for my mom, but I just gave her not one, but two cases just a couple of months ago. Both my father-in-law and my mother-in-law are old-fashioned and hate trying anything new, no matter how old and out-of-date their phones and cases may be. My father and my husband recently got new cases for their phones. And since Mother’s Day is coming up and I have two young kids, which means I will receive nothing, I decided what the heck, let me get another case for myself!
I always wanted a LifeProof FRE case because we have suffered too many cell phone casualties in this household. Once my husband, totally forgetting he had a phone in his pocket, ran into a river with our son on his shoulders and didn’t realize until he crossed the river that his phone had gone to sleep with the fishes. And unfortunately, we were a victim of the famous cell phone in the toilet incident. Since we often visit the beaches and go to the pool practically every weekend, I figure I should get an extra tough case that would guard my phone against dirt, drop, and water when we are in more adventurous situations.
Since I used my own photo for the OtterBox case, I figured I would try using one of the artworks provided by Coveroo for the LifeProof case. And since I have lost all sense of identity after giving birth except for one, I decided to go with a “M<3M” design.
Similar to the OtterBox case, I was impressed by the LaserEngraved image on the case. It looked like it was part of the manufacturing of the case instead of artwork that was applied after production. The design was simple and cute, and I love how it tells the world that I am a mom. I was also amazed at the quality of the case. In the past, I purchased a cheap version that claimed to be as good as LifeProof cases, but after receiving the LifeProof case, I realized the quality is just off the charts compared to the one I had before. This one, I would throw into a pool without hesitation with just a little hesitation – it is a super expensive phone after all that stores priceless data!
