The Mom Brain Returns: Hilarious Mom Brain Moments As Told by Real Moms
About a month ago, mom brain attacked. I won’t lie to you, it was pretty ugly, but all moms and babies survived. You read all about it here on the first edition of Hilarious Mom Brain Moments As Told by Real Moms.
This time, mom brain returned for another attempt at confusing us moms until all we want to do is give up “adulting” and eat a tub of ice cream while watching Netflix (oh wait we want to do that anyway!). The other day, I was supposed to drive my daughter to a doctor’s appointment. Of course, right after I packed the diaper bag and got her all ready to go, she decided to have a blow-out. Yup, the type that left me no choice but to try and get the clothes off her without getting poop all over her hair and throw her in the bath. So after leaving 10 minutes later than planned, I drove fast and furious (ahem, while within legal limits, of course) to the doctor’s office. As I parked the car, grabbed my daughter out of her car seat, and started walking toward the building, I got this eerie feeling that hit me right in the gut. Oh no. Something is very, very wrong. Then it hit me – I had driven to MY doctor’s office, not my daughter’s pediatrician’s office! Noooooooo!!!
Once again, I have teamed up with mom bloggers to bring you hilarious instances of when #mombrainattacks. Yup, as shocking and ridiculous as some of these stories sound, they actually happened to real moms. So sit back, grab some popcorn, and put your feet up as you read through these mom brain moments.
“I am 6 months pregnant with twins and just the other day I pulled into 3 different parking spots until I was right in front of the place. When I was walking back to my car it wasn’t until I reached my hand out for the handle that I realized this wasn’t my car. It was one of the other spots I had almost parked in… half way down the parking lot. So much for saving walking distance.” ~Cari from Off Grid Mom Life
“When my daughter was only a few weeks old, one morning I noticed her belly button was bleeding. I was so worried that I picked up my phone immediately to call her pediatrician. I kept talking but did not get any reply (how annoying!). After a little pause, the other side finally said, “Could you speak English? I did not understand you.” I suddenly realized that I was speaking Chinese to my American doctor. I totally forgot I was in the United States.” ~Lorna from Saving Champs
“I was pregnant with my second child and had rushed out the door because I needed to drop my oldest daughter at daycare before an important business meeting. Halfway through the meeting, I step out to use the ladies room, where I realize that my pants had been on BACKWARDS all morning.” ~Sandra from Outnumbered
“Drove my car right into the side wall of the garage door (scraping off my right rear passenger door handle and ruining the side of my garage) because I was telling my daughter (who was 10 months old at the time) about how grammy and pappy had mailed her a birthday present that was sitting on the front step…$2,500 of damage later…” ~Meredith from Mommy in Leggings
“Someone was talking to me about my 2 and 4-year-olds while I was holding my 9-month-old baby. They said, “and what is this little one named?” and I looked at the baby and thought, “Well dang, what DID we name this one??” I honest to God completely forgot her name!!!” ~Christine from The Salty Mamas
“A few weeks ago, I drove away from the ATM without my money. Had to park, and kindly walk up to the next user and ask for my money.” ~Leslie from Tiny Stampede
“When my triplets were first home from the hospital, we always put them down to sleep in the same pack and play in the same (alphabetical) order. One night we switched the order since one of the babies was colder and we wanted her to be closer to the heater. Well, during one of the middle of the night feedings, I totally forgot, gave the wrong baby her sister’s medication and switched their information in the spreadsheet that we used to keep track of feedings and diapers (we had to keep track because they were preemies). I didn’t even realize it ’till the next morning! And they aren’t even identical!” ~Anne from Once Upon a Mom
“I had a four week old and decided to try and venture out alone with her to the grocery store around the corner for lunch. After getting into the grocery store, I realized that I had forgotten my keys at home and had no way of getting back inside until I got the spare keys from my husband at work!” ~Maryann from Second City Maggie
“My mom brain fails happen almost daily. Sometimes when I’m supposed to be saying get your pajamas on, I end up saying put your uniform on and when I want to say it’s bedtime, I say it’s school time. I really can get muddled up at times and it makes my family laugh.” ~Angela from The Inspiration Edit
“I brought all three of my boys to church only to realize I didn’t have a single diaper in my bag.“ ~Katherine from Homemaking By Design
“I packed the diaper bag, changed my little one, loaded the car, and started driving to my destination. The only problem was I forgot why and where I was going. I drove around the block and came home. Thirty minutes later I realized that I was supposed to go to Target because we were out of diapers.“ ~Stephanie from Relaxed Momma
And just for kicks and giggles, here’s one more mom brain moment from me:
When I was pregnant with my daughter, I worked a full-time job. Every morning I had to drive my son to school before work, and since toddlers seem to be master procrastinators and do everything at snail-pace, we were always running late. One day, after dropping my son off at school, I drove to work all proud that I got him to school on-time. As I got out of my car to walk into work, I realized that I still had sandals on. I was too busy getting my son ready to pay attention to what went on my foot! And it was my oldest pair of flip-flops that has been chewed on by my dog so one of the straps was hanging on by a thread. I tried playing it off at work as if I was trying to make a fashion statement by pairing flip-flops with work clothes, but I don’t think anyone bought it.
